Our large-scalable and sustainable grid-connected renewable energy projects under development include:

  1. Cooma Solar Power Plant (CSPP)

GEI Power’s 50MW Cooma Solar Power Plant in the Southern Province, Zambia exemplifies our dedication to solar energy. This grid-connected, ground-mounted dual-axis solar photovoltaic power plant incorporates a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). CSPP will not only contribute to energy supply but also reduce carbon emissions.

2. Kazungula Solar Power Plant (KSPP)

Another milestone is the upcoming 50MW Kazungula Solar Power Plant, also located in the Southern Province. KSPP harnesses the abundant sunlight to power homes, businesses, and industries.

3. Sesheke Solar-Green Hydrogen Project (SSGHP)

The Sesheke Solar-Green Hydrogen Project in the western Sesheke district is in the early planning stage and will have an electrolyser capacity of 3.5GW and 50MW of solar. It will produce green hydrogen for the export market.

4. The Turnpike Solar-Green Hydrogen Project (TSGHP)

The Turnpike Solar-Green Hydrogen Project in the Chinkankata district of Southern Zambia will have a capacity of 20 million tonnes a year of green hydrogen and ammonia and 40MW of solar. It will supply a fertilizer manufacturing plant.

Green hydrogen for a sustainable future

GEI stands as the pioneer in Zambia, developing and investing in large-scale green hydrogen production. But what exactly is green hydrogen? It’s the future—a clean, emission-free fuel produced by splitting water using renewable energy sources. GEI’s commitment to green hydrogen extends beyond electricity generation; it also fuels green ammonia production, contributing to a cleaner environment.

GEI Power’s vision extends to green hydrogen—a game-changer in the transition to a zero-carbon economy. Our 150MW green hydrogen and 40MW solar hybrid project, known as Matta Solar-Green Hydrogen Project, aims to produce green ammonia fertilizer. By coupling solar energy with hydrogen production, GEI Power contributes to sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship.

Capacity building and economic prosperity

GEI Power’s impact transcends kilowatts and megawatts; it’s about people. By prioritizing local job creation.

Our projects create employment opportunities, GEI uplifts communities. Women and youth cooperatives benefit from GEI’s investments, fostering economic growth. The solar assembly and manufacturing plant in Lusaka promises more jobs, while the methanol refill and plastic recycling plant will be contributing to a circular economy.

GEI has been on the forefront in improving Health and Education in the communities. Reliable energy access enhances healthcare facilities and educational institutions. GEI Power’s initiatives contribute to transformative health and education outcomes.

GEI-JetStar,“MbaulaYaMphamvu”-clean cooking solution

A clean cooking solution methanol fuel-burning household stoves that reduce greenhouse gas emissions by increasing thermal efficiency, reducing specific emissions while providing health and economic benefits to families, and increasing ventilation.

To address deforestation and the increased environmental health risk faced by more than 3 billion people in the developing world who burn solid fuels like; wood, charcoal, dung, crop residues and coal, GEI works to increase the use of home cooking and heating practices that are:

  • Affordable and cost-effective
  • Reliable stainless steel built
  • Clean and green environmentally friendly
  • Efficient 500ml fuel bottle giving approximately 6 hours cooking time
  • Safe and healthy
  • SeTAR UN authorized and Patents for stove and safe fuel filling system secured
  • Answers the call for COP26 of ending deforestation.

Digitally controlled solar generator

Exposure to household air pollution cooking smoke leads to roughly 4 million premature deaths each year and is the 4th worst health risk in the world especially in low-medium income nations. GEI works to improve health, livelihood and quality of life by reducing exposure to air pollution, primarily among women and children, from household energy use. GEI-LEMA™ Power is a digitally controlled solar generator that produces up to 12-15 kWh per day of 230V AC power with a programmable 8 kWh lithium battery and deep-well water kit pumping 34,000 liters of flowing water and 750 liters of thermal pasteurized portable drinking water daily.

GEI-LEMA™ Power is designed for maximum performance and ease of installation. High-efficiency panels and dual-axis tracking enable power generation from dawn till dusk with excess power going to storage.
